Divine Father: Embracing the Love and Guidance of Our Heavenly Creator
The Love and Guidance of Our Heavenly Creator
As human beings, we all crave love and guidance in our lives. The feeling of being loved and cared for is essential to our emotional wellbeing. Similarly, having someone to guide us through life’s ups and downs can be immensely helpful. As Christians, we hold the belief that there is no better source of love and guidance than from our heavenly Father. The concept of God as a father figure is not a new one; it has been present in the Bible since its inception. As mentioned in Psalm 68:5, “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” This verse emphasizes how God takes on the role of a loving parent to those who may lack that experience here on earth. However, our relationship with God goes beyond just that of parent-child. He desires for us to have an intimate relationship with Him and views us as His children. In Romans 8:15-16 it says “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.” This means that just like any good earthly father would provide for their child’s needs; food, shelter clothing etc., so too does He provide spiritual nourishment such as guidance through prayerful request before any decision making by leaning upon His understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) And perhaps even more importantly than physical necessities such as food or shelter is His provision of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. God’s Parenting has proven over time tested circumstances like Prodigal Son parable recorded in Luke chapter fifteen which brings out an accountof how much heavenly daddy forgives beyond human comprehension where he forgave the younger son that demands to inherit his property while he was still alive, the father allowed it and blessed him with everything. The younger son will later squander everything in wild living, but when he realized that life goes beyond such things he came back to his senses by deciding to go back home asking his father for forgiveness despite knowing he had wasted all that was given to him. Then instead of lashing out or punishing him for his wrongs as the culture would have allowed according to Deuteronomy 21:18-21, the heavenly dad did otherwise because He is love Himself That’s love in action! It’s tough in our world today where bad news dominates media spaces and everywhere we turn there seems like no end of trouble. Only a few days ago a news broke out reporting about some human body parts washed up ashore near Kingston River Thames UK (quoted from Independent newspaper). All these can only amplify our fears but God my loving daddy promises us peace beyond understanding through His Holy Spirit; “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 Imagine having a loving Father who will always provide guidance when things get rough, offer comfort when tears fall down our cheeks, wipes them away tenderly with hands which hold eternal power over creation that is what God offers- Divine parenting!Embracing Divine Parenting
As children of God, we should embrace this parenting wholeheartedly. Firstly through accepting Christ as Lord and Savior , then seeking Him daily through His word (Colossians 3:16), prayer(Jeremiah29:12) listening unto promptings without quenching them(1Thessalonians5:19) so that we may live according to His ways. That does require surrendering our wills to His which might mean leaving everything that opposes his values and sometimes causes us struggles because they go against divine parenting. Romans 8:28 reassures us that “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” It is not always easy to embrace this divine parenting. We may have had negative experiences with earthly parents or authority figures which can make it difficult for us to trust and believe in a loving and guiding Father. Additionally, pride can also keep us from fully embracing this parental guidance as we would rather do things our way than seek Divine orientation. However, choosing to embrace Christ’s love first allows this scriptural truth to be fulfilled within “I am able do all things through Him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13How Does Embracing the Love and Guidance of Our Heavenly Creator Relate to the Apostles’ Creed in the Catholic Tradition?
Embracing the love and guidance of our Heavenly Creator is intricately connected to the apostles’ creed in the catholic tradition. This ancient statement of faith serves as a unifying force among believers, reinforcing their commitment to God as the ultimate source of love and guidance. By professing the creed, Catholics express their fidelity to God and affirm their trust in His divine plan, seeking solace and direction in His eternal wisdom.
