Believing for Reconciliation: The Power of Prayer for Restoring Relationships

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” – Matthew 5:23-24

Relationships are a fundamental part of human existence. It is through our relationships with others that we learn about ourselves, the world around us, and our place in it. However, relationships can also be complicated. They can hurt us and create conflicts that tear people apart.

One of the most challenging aspects of any relationship is learning how to reconcile when things go wrong. Whether it’s between family members, friends, or co-workers, restoring relationships requires forgiveness and grace.

Fortunately, as believers in Christ Jesus – we have access to one powerful tool that can help restore broken relationships – prayer! Prayer is a uniquely powerful tool that has been designed by God Himself for healing beleaguered hearts.

In today’s world where bitterness often rules over love instead of vice versa; it’s time for Christians everywhere to reclaim their historic role as being agents of change who bring love wherever they go!

Prayer is not just a passive activity where we ask God to do all the work without doing anything ourselves but rather an act filled with potent potentiality manifesting actualization throughout every sphere we navigate daily.

As Matthew 5:23-24 mentions above – Jesus emphasizes how important reconciliation between individuals truly is before coming before Him with an offering or deliverance request.

For true peace & unity restoration needs must occur between two parties first fore one comes seeking reconciliation from Jesus Christ Our Lord; this means taking practical steps towards rebuilding bridges instead deflecting responsibilities while silently hoping Prayer alone will solve all issues.

We must be active participants communing and seeking God’s will. We might take specific steps towards reconciliation such as; apologize, honesty, forgiveness, ask for help or counseling amongst others.

Prayer ignites & emboldens the heart to set pride aside and makes it possible to overcome self-centered tendencies that can plague our society.

Prayer, when coupled with the willingness of both parties involved in a broken relationship – produces an environment conducive for healing. For even if the other person refuses to seek reconciliation – through prayer we are infused with Christ’s love which further softens our hearts. Love is more robust than pride and bitterness while giving birth to compassion, empathy that can move hidden mountains in our lives (Matthew 17:20).

Therefore no matter how far gone you think a relationship has deteriorated; do not give up on it-this is where God starts working wonders through your act of prayer!

In praying for restoration in any relationship we desire there are other leaders who walked before us throughout history by prayers which hold significant potency such as –

The Prayer of St Ignatius Loyola

O Christ Jesus,
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love And Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For living close to You
May make us Your loving children more now and forevermore.
– AMEN

Believe what you pray for even when it seems impossible because God works miracles every day-if only we let Him! May your broken relationships be healed today through prayer by surrendering everything unto His hands at this moment!
